Welcome to M'Wives on Wheels

Bringing Midwifery to Every Mother, Everywhere.

About Us

At M’Wives on Wheels, we believe that no woman should have to give birth without proper care, regardless of where she lives. We bring mobile midwifery services directly to rural communities with limited or no access to healthcare. Our mission is to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and improve health outcomes for mothers and new born by providing essential antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care to vulnerable populations. By combining medical assistance, education, and community empowerment, we ensure that every mother has a safe and supported pregnancy journey.

Our Projects

Strengthening Maternal Health in Rural and Crisis-Affected Regions

Our work begins in Somaliland, where many women still give birth without skilled assistance and face significant barriers to healthcare. Through mobile clinics, we serve communities with limited or no access to maternity care, including those affected by displacement and ongoing crisis.

We provide:

  • Antenatal Care: Pregnancy monitoring, screenings, education, and birth preparedness.
  • Postnatal Care: Continued care for mothers and newborns, including breastfeeding support and early intervention for complications.
  • Training & Mentorship: Strengthening the skills of midwives and traditional birth attendants, while partnering with government maternity services to ensure sustainable, system-integrated care.
  • Community Education: Empowering women, families, and birth attendants with knowledge on safe practices and danger signs throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

As we expand across regions, our goal remains clear: to reach every woman with skilled, compassionate midwifery care, no matter how remote or fragile her environment.

Why Our Work Matters

Maternal mortality remains one of the leading causes of death among women in low- and middle-income countries. Global data from UNICEF, WHO, and maternal health research shows that most of these deaths are preventable when skilled care is available at the right time.
Antenatal and postnatal care are vital for safeguarding the health of both mothers and newborns. The World Health Organization recommends at least eight antenatal visits during pregnancy and a minimum of three postnatal visits within the first six weeks after childbirth. These contacts allow for early identification of risks, provide critical interventions like nutritional supplements, vaccinations, and malaria prevention, and support women with birth preparedness and recovery.
Despite these guidelines, many women in underserved or crisis-affected regions still lack consistent access to care. Geographic isolation, poverty, and fragile health systems continue to limit their ability to receive even basic support during pregnancy and after delivery—leaving them vulnerable to preventable complications and loss.
In these settings, midwives play a central role in saving lives and supporting long-term health. When midwifery care is integrated with community engagement, interprofessional collaboration, and local system strengthening, it becomes a powerful and sustainable force for change—especially in humanitarian contexts where health infrastructure is disrupted or inaccessible.
Approaches that prioritize continuity of care, cultural sensitivity, and locally adapted practices have proven especially effective in improving outcomes. By investing in these models—supporting antenatal and postnatal outreach, training for local midwives and birth attendants, and maternal education—maternal and newborn survival can be significantly improved, even in the most challenging environments.
